Yemi Adesanya-Famuyiwa Medical Director
By age nine, Nigerian-born, Dr. Oluyemisi (Yemi) Famuyiwa, a Board Certified Infertility Specialist, knew she wanted to be a physician. Today she is the founder of the Montgomery Fertility Center in Rockville, Maryland. Dr. Famuyiwa is also the Associate Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at George Washington University School of Medicine and an attending physician at Holy Cross Hospital in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Dr. Famuyiwa loves people and the field of medicine. Her patients come from all over the world. Dr. Famuyiwa says, "There is nothing more rewarding than seeing my patients return with their children." Being a sole practitioner gives the doctor the flexibility to spend as much time as she needs with patients, and get to know them well. It also allows her to balance professional and personal life.
In 1989, Dr. Famuyiwa received her medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Famuyiwa did her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology from 1989 to 1993 at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. She held a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at The National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland from 1993 to 1995. Dr. Famuyiwa graduated, Magna Cum Laude, from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio with a degree in Biological Sciences.
Prior to founging Montgomery Fertility Center, from 1998-2000, Dr. Famuyiwa was an Adjunct Scientist in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at The National Institute of Health, Bethesda, Maryland; from 1993-2002 she was a staff obstetrician and gynecologist at Columbia Hospital for Women Medical Center, Washington, D.C.; 1988-1989 she served as Chief Surgical Extern at Piedmont Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia and Medical Evaluator for the Maternal and Infant Care Project at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Famuyiwa has lectured at numerous medical conferences; participated in research affecting women's health; and written for books, medical journals and periodicals. Honors and awards include: 1992 - Cited in the "Who's Who Among Rising Young Americans"; 1996 - Women in Endocrinology Travel Award during the 10th International Congress of Endocrinology. This award is in recognition of scholarly accomplishments and contributions to science; and 1998 - Fellow American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Famuyiwa lives in Silver Spring, Maryland, with her husband and three young children. They enjoy hiking and nature.
